Seen on the HARO...

...this cracked me up. So I've turned 40, and there are reporters who have heard that you can actually do this -

I am currently working on a story about people who are choosing to live on cruise ships as a sort of alternate retirement community. I was wondering whether anyone had any sources who have lived on cruise ships before or worked on one?

Really?

Burning the 4 am oil

If you're going to be awake, I say make use of the time.  So here's a few things to ponder at the water cooler tomorrow:

1) 9 pm emails from the boss:  Should you answer them and show diligence, or wait until morning? Upside of morning - sobriety. Critical thinking. Setting proper expectations.  Upside of reaction:  get it off your chest, and get it done.

2) In a great conversation over wine with a gal pal, we pondered the making of a book on the SOP on how to deal with men - from those over the age of 40.  What would you add to the list?

3) What should a professional girl read at 4 am? Newsweek to get her to sleep? Trashy novel to clear her mind? or book her boss gave her?

We'll chat later.

Coffee

I know I'm supposed to drink water at the cooler, right?

However, coffee stirs my blood early in the morning and gets the electrical connections in my brain actually turned on.

It's a big debate.  Hot coffee or iced? Do I go for the cheap 95 cent stuff at Macs, which looks like a glorified truck stop? Or do I go for the big stuff?

I crossed the train tracks and went to the Java Bean.  Flavor of the Day? Chocolate Almond.

Brain on.  I made the right choice.  You?

The first day...

..So, we're creating this blog for those lonely souls who have water cooler moments, but are working from home. Have a moment of inspiration, or see something from the office home window that you're dying to share? We're here for you. C'mon over to the Water Cooler - you've got friends here.

Monday morning gossip? Glad the Irish guy won the Open, but man - couldn't it have been an American? I guess I'll hoist a Guinness sometime this week.
